Truth becomes hard if it is not softened by love; love becomes soft if it is not strengthened by truth.
Often times, we understand the truth of who Jesus is but don’t fully comprehend his individual love for us. Or, we seem to be overwhelmed with His love for us and not delve in the revelation that is the truth of His word.
One of the hardest choices anyone can make in life is choosing to love someone who doesn’t love you back. It may be a family member, friend, or in a marriage but the pain and rejection of that persons lack of reciprocation stares us in the face everyday.
However, Jesus says this is EXACTLY what we’re called to do.
We are called to love people regardless of what they can do for us. Many people say that if someone hurts you to cut them out of your life because they don’t “deserve you.” While, Jesus turns around and says love them back even deeper.
Now, that doesn’t mean let someone walk all over you but the idea of giving to someone your time or money who you know will never give it back or even thank you for what you have done is one of the greatest accomplishments we can do with our lives. For to love and to be loved is easy but to love without love is hard.
